Vacation, Laughable?

We’ve all been locked in, locked down and pretty stationary for over a year now. Vacations are starting to become the talk of the summer – 2021 already halfway spent; Memorial Day weekend rates of travel were higher than expected, and projections for the remainder for the year are enthusiastically optimistic. Making small talk with the Dentist the other day, I asked if he had any travel planned and he laughed, as if to say As If.

Now I don’t know about you, but I want my Dentist to be well rested, well-off and really focused when he is at work. If he never takes a vacation, or doesn’t believe in vacationing, or can’t vacation for financial reasons, (I recall his comment being something like ‘I am so underwater right now,’) then excellent Dentistry cannot be expected.

Maybe it explains why he looked at the wrong tooth the following week when checking on his staff’s work. He poked around (what he thought was) the new crown, ran some floss through and said “good work.” I said, of course it is, it’s the one you put in last year. The one Alex put in this morning is on the top shelf.”
