The other day I saw a print ad in Vogue or Comso (are they still actually in print?) for the birth control option called Plan B. Having not been in the birth control market for many years now I am drawing on ancient memories, but I am relatively certain this was what we used to call The Morning After Pill.
Talk about a re-branding.
It used to be, when this pill first came out, many folks referred to this as An Abortion Pill. (I assumed, these folks were politically Right Winged or Pro-Lifers, but hey, who am I to say?)

This ad says it all: she’s gonna have to handle both Plan A and Plan B on her own.
When I needed to get my hands on The Morning After Pill I was uninsured, and uninformed. (as usual!) I phoned the local Planned Parenthood and stated my case, from a payphone outside the Baskin Robbins where I worked. Turns out the pill wouldn’t work for me, I was at the wrong time in my cycle. Wrong answer, lady.
I called the next Planned Parenthood in the phone book, the one in El Cajon. I explained my need, this time, with more informed details. This is a lesson in how to work the system, it comes naturally to me.
